Combining the architectural beauty of post rock groups such as Sigur Ros, Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky with
the gut-wrenching drive of progressive metal behemoths Tool, Isis and Pelican, the Airstrip One are the light at the end of a tunnel, the silver lining of an otherwise black cloud, the single blossoming flower amidst the carnage of a battlefield. This is the sound of gravity meeting music. This is, The Airstrip One.
The Airstrip One is a four-piece prog rock band based in Manchester. The band was formed just before Easter 2004 by Matt and Andy. Mike and Si completed the line-up towards the end of the year and they had their first gig by May 2005. They are currently gigging and preparing to record a few of their tracks for their first EP properly at The Cutting Rooms, Manchester in October.
