The Remedy are a young 5-piece band from Merseyside, playing an intelligent style of indie rock music.
The band were formed in 2003, and after a series of different short-term line-ups, The Remedy was formed with a steady line-up including Paul Flanagan (lead guitar/vocals), Tom Cookson (bass/keyboards), Will Cookson (drums) and David Knight (guitars). After recording a 12-tack demo and playing just one gig, David left to pursue a career in France. The band parted with the rhythm guitarist on friendly terms and began their search for a new guitarist. After a couple of weeks Paul approached a college friend Phil Cunniff and he agreed to join the band as David?s replacement. However, a friend of Tom, Ste Gallivan (also of Post Haste) also expressed an interest and so it was agreed that the band would benefit greatly from becoming a 5-piece. The current band line-up is Paul (guitar/lead vox), Tom (bass/keyboards), Will (drums), Phil (guitars) and Ste (guitars).
The band have a wide range of influences including Oasis, Manic Street Preachers, The Smiths, The Cure, Easyworld, Stone Roses, The Coral and The Verve, and have all of these sounds incorporated into their new and original sound.
In the near future the band have plans to record the follow up to Everything Has A Meaning, currently going under the working title of No Slogans.
The Remedy are certainly a band to keep a close eye on as they look destined for big things!
