Darwin Deez - Bad Day

Darwin Deez’s star is currently on an unstoppable rise. Sell-out headline dates across the UK, strong support from Radio 1, 6Music and XFM among others and even an appearance on the cover of the NME and inclusion in their annual Cool List. Deez has followed his own quixotic path and has quickly become a bona fide pop star on his own terms.

He has released two videos for his double A side single. This one for Bad Day and one for DNA which can be seen here - [link].

The Bad Day viral video was made by Anika Mottershaw, whilst interning at Lucky Number earlier this year. The DNA video was made by Darwin’s drummer from the NME tour (Miles) and features Miles, Charlene (girl from Radar Detector video) and of course (Darwin's bass player) Mash Deez too.

Now here comes his brand new single (and definite live favourite) “Bad Day”, a deliciously subversive belter of a pop song in which Deez recounts all the different things he wishes would happen to a (romantic?) rival, albeit in his typically off-beam fashion (“I hope that the last page of your 800 page novel is missing/ I hope that your team lost; I hope your new girl takes off with a new guy”), and set to his most infectious and instantly whistle-worthy melody yet. Playful questions abound – who is this rival? And, for that matter, the mysterious “Jenny” in the song? Does it matter? as ultimately it’s clear that he doesn’t mean any harm (“but I’m sorry if it ever is”).

That’s not all however – early 2011 will see Darwin Deez tackle his biggest headline tour yet, as he plays venues such as Koko in London and Manchester Academy 2, and basically continues on his one man mission to improve the world through his particular streak of curiously addictive pop songs and bursts of gloriously unfettered synchronized dancing.
