Atlantic Records is set to release “The Twilight Saga: New Moon Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” on October 19. The first single taken from the album is Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me On The Equinox” which will be released on October 12. The track was Zane Lowe's 'Hottest Record in The World' on his Radio 1 Show last week.

“We wrote ‘Meet Me On the Equinox’ to reflect the celestial themes and motifs that run throughout the Twilight series, and we wanted to capture that desperate feeling of endings and beginnings that so strongly affect the main characters,” said Death Cab for Cutie bassist Nick Harmer. “This song marks the first attempt that Death Cab for Cutie has ever made at contributing new, unreleased material for a film. It just seems a perfect synergy that a band from the Northwest would create a song for a series of novels set in the Northwest. We are not only proud to be a part of the Twilight legacy but also honored to join so many other fantastic artists that have leant their amazing creativity to this soundtrack.”

The film “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” opens in cinemas across the UK on November 20.

• The Twilight Soundtrack has so far sold over 170,000 copies in the UK and over 3.5 million copies worldwide.
• The Twilight Saga books have sold over 6 million copies in the UK alone
• The Twilight film took over 11 million at the box office in the UK debuting at number 1
• The Twilight DVD is the 2nd biggest selling DVD of the year so far
