Maximo Park release "Questing, Not Coasting", the second single from their top 10 album "Quicken the Heart" on CD/ 7"/ digital download through Warp on the 13th July.

Maximo Park's floor-rattling single "The Kids Are Sick Again" undoubtedly got the fans fired up with its slow-build catch and climactic release, but it is with their brand new single "Questing, Not Coasting" that the power and sheer pop majesty of the band will impact on you, full force.

This is unmistakeably the sound of the band at the very peak of their considerable powers, marrying an urgent, throbbing bass line with soaring vocals and perhaps Paul Smith's most heartbreakingly evocative lyrics to date, with him seductively cooing "Hey you, what's new...I need to connect to you now" at the start, before eventually developing into a full-throated invocation of "watching machines land and fly...with blankets and lights and whitewashed sky". Few other bands manage to weld such gorgeous and poetic imagery to straight ahead, addictive tunes like these five do, but somehow, they manage it time and again.

"Questing, Not Coasting" arrives just in the nick of time too, as Maximo Park are riding a wave of acclaim and buzz for their third album, "Quicken the Heart", with NME giving it 8/10, Clash giving it 9/10 and the band playing to sold out crowds at gigs in their native Newcastle and BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Swindon. The band are currently on a huge, sold out tour of the UK (including two dates at Brixton Academy), with Europe and USA to follow shortly, including a brand new German Arena Tour with Friendly Fires supporting. However, before that, they will be playing a number of prestigious slots at all the major summer music festivals, including Isle of Wight, Reading and Leeds, T in the Park and, of course, officially opening Glastonbury.

Video directed by Grant Gee (Radiohead's "No Surprises" video & "Meeting People is Easy" documentary, "Joy Division" feature, 2007).
