Gabby Young's releases her brand new single In This Together (Gift of the Gab Records) on Oct 26 and has been added to the following festival -

Sunday 1st November

Tom Robinson's BBC6 Fresh on the Net festival

Gabby Young continues her non-stop rise up the UK music ladder. A summer filled with festival appearances awaits an artist whose voice has been described by critics as “able to melt marble at 100 paces”. An overheard whisper from a gig-goer is an equally effective description. “Damn, that girl can sing!”

Hailing from rural Wiltshire, 25-year-old Gabby Young is a classically trained musician whose staggeringly rich vocal ability has the power to make you feel like you’re swimming in velvet. Add a commanding stage presence, a sexy chanteuse ringmaster style that has magazines foaming at the mouth, and a sweetness that simply can’t be faked, and you’ve got a female artist worth clearing room in your calendar for.

'Her shows are some of the most enthralling and energetic experiences I've had at gigs as she sweeps you up into what I'd like to say is a cacophony of folk led, jazz tinged brilliance - but it's much, much more than that.' Will Walder BBC Introducing

And that’s before you get to the music. Almost uncategorisable, Gabby’s unique perspective on the world around her is inspired as much by her singularly surreal imagination as it is real events – most recently, her courageous survival of throat cancer. Gabby Young and Other Animals offer a slew of stunningly beautiful, often haunting songs that are a genre bending explosion of gypsy folk, pop, rock, jazz, cabaret – and a whole lot of soul.

Clearly not a case of style over substance, but, like many a performer before her, Gabby loves to play dress up – and since her double page spread in edgy style bible Artrocker magazine, titled “How to dress like Gabby Young” will attest, there are plenty of women out there who find her charismatic looks as inspiring as her music.

Gabby Young and her 8 piece band *Other Animals have been playing together for just over a year, garnering a strong, loyal and extremely diverse fanbase enjoying the music, ranging from the burlesque to indie rock, folk and jazz. They have, on invitation, played major festivals such as Glastonbury, The Secret Garden Party, the Marlborough Jazz Festival and a recent sell out show at the famous Union Chapel and are due to play The Big Chill this summer They were invited to play at this year’s SXSW festival but declined in favour of a sell-out US tour supporting the great troubadour Al Stewart.

Dance, laugh, cry or simply get lost in the spider web of her stories, Gabby Young and the Animals New Orleans-esque big band dramatic sound will resonate in your mind long after the music stops.

Gabby Young and Other Animals are spearheading a new business model for the music industry. In Gabby’s words “We are part of a time where people can get just about anything for free and we support this, but want to give our fans a chance to enjoy a more personal, special treatment and get more for their money"
