I'll Be Missing You

So, Rage Against The Machine fulfilled their promise last Sunday and performed a huge, free gig in Finsbury Park to celebrate them beating The X Factor winner, Joe McElderry, to Christmas Number One. Judging by the review written by our very own rock oracle, Steven Hurst, it was a brilliant day and those who missed it (including me) most certainly missed out.

In other news, my world was well and truly rocked today with the sad news about Stuart Cable. I don’t think I’ve ever been so personally affected by the death of a celebrity before. The second proper gig I ever went to was to see the Stereophonics in the Royal Court in Liverpool. They were the soundtrack to my school days and so many of their songs bring brilliant memories flooding back to me. Needless to say, I’ve been to a lot of gigs in my time but I don’t think I’ve seen any band as many times as I saw the ‘Phonics. I remember going to see them in Cardiff, not long after Stuart left the band and thinking that, although they played for hours and it was the best set I’ve ever seen them perform, there was definitely something missing from their performance without Stuart. It was like all their stage presence had evaporated with his departure. It was the last time I went to see them. I am genuinely devastated by the news of his death and my world has become a little bit quieter without him in it.

Anyway, on the site this week we have... interviews with fun., Envy Of The State and Gallows, new videos from The Automatic, I Am Kloot and 3Oh!3 along with competitions to win Stevie Wonder goodies and Cha-Cha’s album. Also, Graffiti6, Cattle Decapitation, Wallis Bird and Black Mountain are all on the road. What are you waiting for?
