World Cup Fever

So the World Cup has started and I’m bored of it already. The television is dominated by it at all hours of the day and night, it’s all peoples Facebook and Twitter feeds are full of and it’s all I hear about. I went to my friend’s flat for tea yesterday and he became physically deflated after the Germany match because there was no more football on TV until the next day! Come on people, there’s more to life than football.

Not only does the World Cup spawn a load of football bores around me, it produces all sorts of ridiculous World Cup songs. The amount of press releases I have received about World Cup songs, you will not believe. Why, once every four years, do any Tom, Dick or Harry think they can churn out some drivel and think it’ll top the charts due to some tenuous footballing link. Everyone from James Corden and Dizzee Rascal to Shakira to Chico (remember him?) to Ben Dover (yes, the porn star!) has had a go at making a new World Cup “anthem” this time. The only one, in my opinion, that is actually any good is We Are Scientist’s “Goal! England” and they’re a pair of Americans. I guess a good tune, is a good tune though.

Although, at the end of the day I guess I’m just being a typical girl. I would like to point out though, I don’t hate football and I will watch the England matches. I just want a life outside of that too. Is that really too much to ask?!

Anyway, there are loads of things on the site this week that don’t revolve around the football (and some that do!) We have interviews with Frank Turner and Darwin Deez, competitions to win tickets to the Topshop summer Bandstand Picnics and Beat-Herder Festival and new videos from Broken Bells, Seth Lakeman and Everything Everything. On top of this, if you want to escape the football and catch some live music Kate McGill, Graffiti6, Cattle Decapitation and Black Mountain are all on tour! Check it out.

Football's always on in my house anyway, my dad always finds a match being palyed somewhere to watch, so I can cope with that...however, I'm bored of those damn vuvuzelas!!! the kids in my neighbourhood have them now and lora, you know how i feel about those kids playing on MY playground anyway, let alone with stupid horns! if we go out of the world cup i'm going to organise a symbolic vuvuzela burning because there is JUST.NO.NEED.

Well I can't stand the sport either.
But i will look forward to listening to all those English supporters making excuses for why they lost. They are such good sports.

In the meantime i wont look forward to every random guy I meet asssming that:
1. I like football and want to talk about it.
2. I Am English/or an english supporter.

I'm Scotish - We are shit at football - but at least we can admit it. We love to support the teams playing against England. Tee bloody Hee.

Lfe- Haha you live at home! (just kidding x)

Yeah...I'm not allowed to play out in the garden after dark but I get my meals cooked and my washing done so it's bearable =P but it does mean I get subjected to intolerable amounts of football.
scotland have the worst world cup record ever...i saw it on a worldcup build-up show the boys made me watch at work...who does everyone switch to supporting when they go out? =P x

We are allowed to play out after dark now! However, you do have to be subjected to getting spied on while you eat your tea!

Like I said - We know we are crap and make no excuse - other than they should probably try a bit harder. Poor, cold, pale skinned bastards.

When Scotland go out then Scottish people like to support whatever team are playing against England. 1 - it makes English people very angry that we do it, and 2 - it's funny to wind them up as they are such poor losers.

When they behave themselves and get their egos out of their arses we're bound to have respect for them. ;-p

Dammit! See you roped me into bloody football discussion! laura! Who is this green haird brat? Spank her, or I will!

I never trust women who take pictures at that angle. Either they are hidjng something, or showing a little too much off. Nice pink/orange hair though.

Eventually. Mat is working on it with lee as we speak. I just have to keep the stuff coming and then when it is there I can move all film related material over. So i'm in no rush as it would be nice to generate enough news and reviews to move over. So you tell me when you see a good filom and you want to write about it! hehe.
