British Sea Power Talk To Us About Hinterland

British Sea Power spoke to us about their upcoming appearance at Hinterland in Scotland and their plans for 2010.

Firstly, Hello... Are you excited to be part of an exhilarating festival to kick off the season in style?
This will be our first show after finishing our new album so should be interesting coming out of that bubble. It might be the first time we have seen people in months.
We may not play any new songs though as Phil (Keys/Cornet) can't make this show.
His wages have been docked accordingly though, and he's booked in for some care in the community.

Hinterland is all about giving home-grown and international talent a fantastic showcase opportunity in the middle of a bustling city. Why did you get involved?
Hamilton and Abi now live on the Isle of Skye. I think it's their first show as Scottish residents. They cannae wait.

Out of all the fresh talent, who are you most looking forward to catching?
I haven't seen the full list yet, but it's another chance to bump into Jeffrey Lewis and the Mystery Jets again. Do you have any hot tips?

We can't wait to see Hot Club De Paris and Wave Pictures. So, are you a V.I.P party animal or laid-back listener?
Either depending on which way the wind blows, and what happened the day before.

If you were to do a remix of a festival anthem what song would you choose?
Maybe get Darts hero Tony O'Shea to do a version of his walk on song "Hey Baby" by DJ Otzi.
It works well at the Lakeside, and i can completely imagine the Euphoria of him clapping along to it on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury.

Nice Image! What is your funniest/scariest/favourite festival moment?
Hanging from the tent roof dressed as a tree.

Any weird rituals before you play live?
We turn into other people though a variety of Slapping. Exercise. Drink. Screaming. Crying. Smiling. More Slapping.

What can we expect from your show?
Some golden oldies because we are down from 6 piece to 5 piece this show.
It will be basic, but still exceptionally good value.
It's Glasgow....., it's the weekend........ You know what that means?

Any hot tips for the scene in 2010?
I've been told Jeggings and Double Denim.

Lastly, can you tell us what 2010 has in store for you?
We release our brand new album in July, so we'll be playing all our new songs everywhere.
We have our own festival at the UKs highest pub, The Tan Hill Inn in April/May, and we'll be touring the UK, going back to China, Bangkok, Japan, America, Malaysia. All over the shop. Sounds like a fun year.

It does indeed, can't wait!
