Lady Gaga took home eight awards from the MTV Video Music Awards last night making her the second most successful winner in VMA history after Peter Gabriel. Back in 1987, Gabriel won ten moonmen awards.
Even without her mass of success at the awards bash, Gaga wanted to make sure all eyes were on her and she got as many column inches as possible. She wore a gown made entirely of raw meat and topped it off with a steak on her head, at a jaunty angle though obviously. Tears ran down Lady Gaga's face after Cher presented the US singer with the most coveted award of the ceremony, Video Of The Year for Bad Romance. Lady Gaga handed Cher her purse and told the audience: "I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse."
It’s not the first time she’s caused controversy by donning an outfit made of butcher’s best, earlier this month she was snapped wearing a meat bikini for the cover of Vogue Hommes Japan. PETA have waded into the situation condemning the Gaga for her choice of outfit for such a high profile shoot.
To be honest I couldn’t think of anything worse to wear, I cringe touching raw meat when I’m cooking never mind wrapping my body in it and think of the smell as it began to cook under the hot lights on stage as she collected her awards and she began to sweat underneath it! EW! The thought of it makes my skin physically crawl.
Congratulations to her where it’s due for being so successful but come on now, can’t she dial down the crazy just a little bit? Or is it a massive cry for help, going one step too far in her quest to be the most outrageous pop diva on the planet?
