All Rise For The Eurovision Song Contest

As the most glorious of all the camp European traditions rolls around again, I must admit I am delighted to discover Blue have reunited to be our entrants for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Maybe this year, with one of our best boy bands at the front we’ll have a chance of winning... Or maybe not, I mean no one likes us and it’s Blue.

I do think whoever it was that decided Blue should represent our country was either having an episode of insanity or a laugh at our expense. I mean, have they never heard the drivel that comes out of Lee Ryan’s mouth? Although, perhaps they’ve prepared for that and he isn’t allowed to speak about anything that may border on racist or xenophobic. Things like “I like singing” and “isn’t Eurovision great?” Pre-prepared statements and nothing more are to pass his lips.

I guess I’m being a bit mean but really... are the Blue boys really that skint and is demand really that low for them to reform that they are doing Eurovision?! Even in a time when bands are reforming on a practically daily basis (come on Busted, you know you want too!!) Have they exhausted every route that this is what they turn to? Bad times boys, bad times.

Anyway, we have lots of exciting things on the site this week to take your mind off this travesty. We have interviews with Glassheads, Squeeze, Ricky Warwick and Jason Lytle. We also have new videos from Johnny Foreigner, Metronomy, Mirrors and Liam Bailey. There’s the chance for you to win tickets to the Nero album launch party at Chibuku, tickets to HMV’s Next Big Thing with Gaymers and signed InnerPartySystem artwork. If all that wasn’t enough Chelcee Grimes, Don Broco, Judy Collins and Let Loose (an excellent boy band reunion!) are all on tour.

Blue are abysmal....but Lee Ryan is such a strange individual and Eurovision is awesome, looking forward to it.
