Reverend & The Makers Come To Liverpool With Kasabian

‘No Soap In A Dirty War’ is the new single taken from Reverend and the Makers top 20 album ‘A French Kiss In The Chaos’. The track was released on 28th September 2009 on Wall of Sound is a tale of small town social frustration and has been highlighted in many reviews as one of the standout tracks on the album. As part of the recent Tramlines Festival in Sheffield (which vocalist Jon McClure helped curate) a competition ran for young Sheffield producers to remix the track and the winner’s version will be on the digital format of the release. Such is his dedication to helping the local arts scene, the band enlisted young up and coming Sheffield director Shaun Grant to direct the video for the track .

The band have had a busy summer, supporting Oasis on some of the summer supergigs including the opening night in Heaton Park in Manchester and 3 nights at Wembley in London. They also headlined the Love Music, Hate Racism festival in Stoke earlier this summer as well as Sheffield Tramlines in July, and recently completed a whistlestop busking tour of the UK where they turned up unannounced at several town centre’s a day and played tracks from the new album. A full UK tour is lined up for November, see dates below.

As well as playing with Reverend and the Makers Jon McClure is involved with the cultural and political project Instigate Debate. This was started last year by Jon, Carl Barat and the journalist Mark Donne and amongst its aims is to engage young people who feel disenchanted by the current political landscape. Various forums have taken place over the last year with the likes of Ken Livingstone, Bianca Jagger and Ben Bradshaw the Secretary of State for Culture and Media. Instigate Debate was at Latitude earlier this summer and the Reading & Leeds Festivals and touring universities later this year.
