The Primitives - First Tour In 18 Years

Fronted by pop bombshell Tracy Tracy, The Primitives emerged from the independent scene of the mid 80s, which spawned such acts as The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine, The Wedding Present and Primal Scream. The Primitives distilled the shimmering guitar jangle of The Byrds, the buzzsaw style of The Ramones and 60s girl group melodies, into two and a half minute pop gems.

A widely acclaimed first album, 'Lovely', made them the UK's indie-darlings,
while the huge success of the single 'Crash' saw them cross over to a mass
audience.

The Primitives called it a day in 1992, but continued for a short time (with
and without Tracy) under the alias Starpower. A cover of Lee Hazlewood's
'Some Velvet Morning' created a brief flurry of excitement, due to repeated
airplay by Mark Radcliffe on his various radio shows.

In 2008, The Primitives' second single 'Really Stupid' was chosen as one of
the top 40 UK indie singles of all time by Mojo magazine.

The band have a covers project in the pipeline. The idea being to record a
selection of lesser known female fronted songs. They recently went back into
the studio with their original producer Paul Sampson, and have recorded
versions of Suzi Jane Hokom's 'Need All The Help I Can Get'' and Toni
Basil's 'Breakaway'.

A reunion for two gigs at the end of 2009 brought rapturous reviews and now
this chance to see The Primitives in 2010.
