The Cribs are set to pay a special club show at The Great Escape - Europe's leading festival for new music which takes pace in Brighton on Thursday 13th to Saturday 15th. The explosive four-piece are set to play the NME Stage at The Corn Exchange on Thursday night at 11.30pm following shows by Surfer Blood and Yuck.
An incendiary live attraction since their very earliest gigs in 2002, The Cribs (brothers Ryan, Gary and Ross Jarman with new recruit ex-The Smiths guitarist & songwriter Johnny Marr) released their fourth album 'Ignore The Ignorant' last year to universal acclaim. Fiercely independent and with a strong integrity and work ethic, their sheer love of great music shines through in everything that they do. Twin brothers Gary and Ryan spent their early teens listening to Nirvana and Sonic Youth, and through them learned about Beat Happening!, The Pastels, Comet Gain and the importance of musical sustenance. Collaborating throughout their career with band heroes such as Edwyn Collins (Orange Juice), Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand) and Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo (whose guest vocals grace the spoken word track 'Be Safe' on previous album 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever' (2006 - an album which saw the band achieve their first gold disc), The Cribs have recently featured on three NME front covers in rapid succession as well as playing their first ever UK arena shows - they seem an unstoppable force…
Johnny Marr perhaps summed-up his new bandmates best when he said;
