Pic 'N' Mixx Hits The Buffalo Bar

Pic ‘n’ Mixx presents…
Stairs To Korea + Spaghetti Anywhere LIVE
With Darren Hayman (ex-Hefner) and Alasdair MacLean (The Clientele) DJs
Saturday 14 August, 8pm – 3am at the Buffalo Bar, 259 Upper Street, London E2 7LX

BANDS
STAIRS TO KOREA [link]
From North London via Reykjavik, Will Vaughan makes budget anthems through slipshod use of modern technology and a dinky white guitar. It's pop Heaven - right here on Earth.

SPAGHETTI ANYWHERE [link]
From East London via Glasgow and Rome, the combination of uplifting brass, gloriously catchy 80s pop choruses and rolling Rs with Postcard and C86 jangle and groove is an indiepop delight.
DJs

Darren Hayman [link]
An indiepop legend, and formerly or currently part of Hefner, The French, Hayman, Watkins, Trout and Lee and The Secondary Modern. Pop-lover, DJ-wise.

Alasdair MacLean [link]
Frontman of The Clientele, who've produced "some of the most heartbreakingly lovely, perfectly formed music anywhere over the past decade" (according to the BBC). An honour!

MIX CDs - BRING ONE WITH, GO HOME WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S

As well as CDs from the night's attendees, there'll be one in the box made by Calvin Johnson (a tape, actually!) and another by Lupe from Pipas/Amor de Dias that you could leave with! Previously, we've given away CDs compiled by Amelia Fletcher, Everett True, Xfm's John Kennedy, Radio 1's Bethan Elfyn... whose CD will you leave with this time?

ABOUT
Pic ‘n’ Mixx was born in October 2009, and has since been taking the indiepop world by storm. The mix-swapping phenomenon made its way to Indietracks in July, with punters from around the world contributing themed mixes accompanied by the most delightful artwork. And we continue to chance our luck by asking an A-list of music-types to contribute their own favourite tracks… requests are rarely met with a negative, and hand-stitched artwork (without prompt) is often just part and parcel of the affair. It's like living the dream.

For Folk’s Sake: “we danced so hard I had to take my jeans off”
Bearded Magazine: “I love events like this - they resemble everything that music culture should be: sharing tunes you love with like-minded people.”
