Kids In Glass Houses And The Blackout Added To SWN Line Up

With exactly one calendar month to go until the start of SWN FESTIVAL 2010 we're delighted to unveil over 40 more bands who will be playing this year's event.

They include well known names, such as TOM GRAY from Gomez, who'll be playing only his third ever solo set, Radio 1 Xtra DJ RAS KWAME, who'll be hosting a night of UK and homegrown hip-hop and breaks, DJ RAFFERTIE who'll join the excellent MOSHI MOSHI label DJs for a night of action at Buffalo Bar and Domino Label's awesome CLINIC who'll play the opening evening of the festival. There's many, many new bands too. We're especially pleased to announce that the ubercool US outfit BEACH FOSSILS will play their first ever UK show at SWN Festival 2010. BECOMING REAL, CHAD VALLEY, DAM MANTLE and STILL CORNERS are some of many bands making their debut in Wales, and there's many amazing acts from Wales, including CATE LE BON, HENRYS FUNERAL SHOE, DERWYDDON DR GONZO and RACEHORSES.

As we've been hinting, we're welcoming more rock bands to SWN Festival 2010 and with them some shows open to those aged 14+. Two of our favourite bands who've emerged from South Wales - THE BLACKOUT and KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES - have curated a day of shows during the Saturday of SWN Festival, with bands REAPER IN SICILY, THE COMPUTERS, THE GUNS, EXIT INTERNATIONAL, BLACK SPIDERS and THROATS all playing their stages. GAVIN BUTLER from THE BLACKOUT will open the afternoon with a solo set, before KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES wrap up the live shows with a special, very, very intimate acoustic set... ALED from KIDS IN GLASS HOUSES will then DJ with SEAN aka DIRTY LOVE from THE BLACKOUT at a 14-18 yr old DJ event taking place at MILLENNIUM MUSIC HALL 3.

TICKETS

At SWN Festival 2010 we are changing things slightly to previous years, so please pay attention.

STROLLER WRISTBANDS
Stroller wristbands, like previous years, get you free priority access to all the shows in what we’ve now named our Stroller Area. The stroller area covers the stages at Dempseys, Clwb Ifor Bach (upstairs and downstairs), Y Fuwch Goch, The Model Inn (upstairs and downstairs), Undertone, Cardiff Arts Institute, Buffalo Bar and Chapter Arts Centre (there’s several stages here). As some of our venues are a little further out, or the bands are much bigger, we’ve ticketed them as you would a normal show. This way you’re guaranteed entry (subject to the usual conditions). We’ve worked on the feedback from last year – that in travelling out further to a show people wanted to be assured entry. So this change fixes that. It also means that if you only want to dip into SWN Festival for one of the bigger shows then you can, in the same way the day stroller wristbands allow people to come for just one day if they can’t make all three. We hope you like the development.
