Goldfrapp Surprise Drogheda With Greenspheres

Electro pioneers Goldfrapp visit TLT Theatre this November 25th for Drogheda’s inaugural installment of Heineken Green Spheres – the free music series that offers paranormal music experiences for music fans around Ireland.

Following their recent highly acclaimed album Head First, the genre busting duo of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory bring their escapist show to Drogheda. Renowned for their live shows which feature outlandish animal creations, all fully art directed by Alison Goldfrapp herself, this is one show not to be missed.

Goldfrapp was formed in 1999. Just a year later the dynamic duo had won a Mercury nomination with their debut album Felt Mountain. Three years later Black Cherry was released and became the benchmark album of 2003 - a glammed up electro creation that spawned remix requests from artists as diverse as Franz Ferdinand and Marilyn Manson. In 2005 the release of disco infused electro album Supernature went platinum in the UK selling over 1,000 000 copies worldwide and picking up a Grammy nomination in the process.

By this stage Goldfrapp's reputation as a visually astounding live band was sealed and they took their rightful place at the cutting edge of dancefloor pop. Perhaps surprisingly then, their next album Seventh Tree marked somewhat of a departure with its acoustic almost folky feel. Seventh Tree was a critical success though, reaching number two in the UK album charts. This year’s Head First saw a return to the more upbeat sounds of earlier work with soaring choruses and rolling synths. The album went top 20 in Ireland and top 10 in the UK and has been another critical triumph for the duo.

As part of the Heineken Green Spheres series, Heineken has recently brought White Lies, Passion Pit, Miike Snow, Digitalism, 2manydjs, Foals and Marina and the Diamonds to venues throughout Ireland and the addition of Goldfrapp completes this year’s solar system of stellar acts.

Tickets to all Heineken Green Spheres gigs are free. Music fans can enter to win tickets for them plus two friends to the Goldfrapp gig in Drogheda on [link]. Tickets will be released on November 18th.
