ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN TO HEADLINE ECLECTICA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Legendary Liverpool band Echo and the Bunnymen will be the headline act for this summer's free Eclectica Music Festival in Victoria Square, St.Helens on Saturday 11th August 2007. Offering a diverse combination of music genres, Eclectica is one of the North West’s most exciting, innovative, and up-and-coming summer music festivals. In addition to Echo and the Bunnymen, Eclectica ’07 will feature a similar first-class mix of exciting established bands and flourishing new talent, all for FREE! The event is being run in association with Love Music, Hate Racism and the Citadel Arts Centre.

Echo & the Bunnymen have been wowing music fans for more than 25 years with their swirling fusion of guitar-based post-punk pop, powerful vocals, and Doors-inspired psychedelia that have brought global cult status and critical acclaim, as well as massive popular success thanks to hits such as "The Cutter”, "The Back of Love", "The Killing Moon" and “Nothing Lasts Forever”. Their unique blend is also acknowledged as an ongoing seminal influence for a host of today’s best-known indie-rock bands, notably Coldplay. Their headline appearance at Eclectica in St.Helens marks the only Merseyside date of their busy tour of major summer festivals.

Ian McCulloch, lead singer of Echo and the Bunnymen says: “We're really looking forward to playing such a great free festival so close to our hometown.”

Councillor Neil Taylor, Executive Member for Urban Regeneration at St.Helens Council adds: “We are delighted to announce Echo & the Bunnymen as the headline act for this major event. As one of the best-known acts of the Eighties and one of the most talented bands ever to come out of Liverpool, they will no doubt bring in fans from far and wide. To have attracted an artist of their calibre underlines the growing prominence and reputation of Eclectica. The location and accessibility of St.Helens midway between Liverpool and Manchester, plus all the amenities of a great town centre setting make the event a perfect free day out”.
