Acclaimed Swedish punk-pop group Love Is All and legendary pop mavericks The Pooh Sticks have just been added to the Indietracks 2010 line-up.
They will join New York headliners the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart at this year’s festival, which takes place on 23-25 July 2010. The festival is held in the grounds of a picturesque 1950s steam railway in Derbyshire
There are now less than four weeks left to pick up tickets at early bird discount prices. Weekend tickets are currently available at an early bird discount price of £55, and day tickets are available for £30. These prices are available until Friday 7 May. After this date, weekend tickets will be £60 and day tickets £32.50.
Love Is All have picked up plaudits for their blend of art punk and indie rock since they formed from the ashes of indiepop group Girlfriendo in 2005. Pitchfork included their debut album 'Nine Times That Same Song' among their favourites of 2005, while NME named their song 'Make Out Fall Out Make Up' as a single of the week. The band’s new album ‘Two Thousand and Ten Injuries’ is an unconstrained and celebratory affair, combining punk guitars, saxophones, disco beats and melodic harmonies and is already being hailed as one of the best albums of the year.
The Pooh Sticks have reformed exclusively for the Indietracks festival. Forming in the late 80s, the Swansea band started out by using ramshackle pop charm to lighten up the indie scene. Their debut single On Tape gently mocked obsessive indie fans and was followed by a box set of one-sided 7" singles featuring the track I Know Someone Who Knows Someone Who Knows Alan McGee Quite Well. In the 90s, the band released a series of well-received albums with a more expansive power pop direction.
Also appearing at the festival, which is held at the Midland Railway in Ripley, Derbyshire, will be John Peel favourites Ballboy, UK chart-toppers White Town, and this year’s two new indiepop sensations Standard Fare and Allo Darlin’.
Around 50 indiepop bands from across the globe will be playing across four stages: the outdoor stage; the indoor stage, the church and on the steam trains themselves. The festival will also host a range of craft workshops and a selection of discos after the bands finish.
Festival goers can have unlimited rides on the steam railway over the weekend, as well as full access to other railway attractions including a farm and museum.
Previous headliners at Indietracks have included Teenage Fanclub, Camera Obscura, Los Campesinos, The Wedding Present, Au Revoir Simone and Art Brut.
