Following the release of his critically acclaimed fourth album ‘Hearts & Minds’ (out now on Virgin / Relentless), Seth Lakeman, the folk singer-songwriter widely credited with taking folk to a new, younger audience is set to release new single ‘Stepping Over You’ on 10th October. Garnering praise across the board from the likes of Stylist Magazine, Daily Mirror, Uncut and Daily Telegraph, ‘Hearts & Minds’ crashed into the top 20 of the UK album charts, a big achievement for a so-called folk artist.
‘Stepping Over You’, the second single to be lifted from ‘Hearts & Minds’ is a poignant, personal ballad, which sees intertwining banjo, piano and violin coming together to create a truly haunting song. When combined with the song’s heartfelt subject matter, ‘Stepping Over You’ looks set to become one of the standout moments of Seth’s career to date. Seth has taken his story telling to a new level on his latest album, tackling contemporary issues such as the financial crash and the greed of politicians and the banking system, as on the title track of the album Hearts and Minds. Other lyrical themes both personal and universal are covered elsewhere, including the struggles of the working-man (‘Working Man’) and soldiers losing their lives in battle (‘Spinning Days’). Producer Tchad Blake has also moved Seth’s rhythmically compelling sounds into new territory, perfectly capturing the raw essence of his live show on record.
Seth plays the following dates in November and December with support on all dates from Delta Maid. Expect a captivating, energetic and undeniably compelling live show from award-winning Lakeman and his superbly talented band.
