The Zutons To Play Gaymers Grassroots Gigs

Gaymers cider is proud to announce that Liverpool favourites, The Zutons, have signed up to Gaymers Grassroots Gigs, a series of exclusive money can’t buy gigs which bring fans up close and personal with some of the most exciting bands on the British music scene.

Now in its second year, Gaymers Grassroots Gigs will see six bands head back to their hometowns to perform an intimate one-off set in a local venue close to their heart. Liverpool band The Zutons will play at St George’s Hall as part of Gaymers Grassroots Gigs on 23rd May marking the closing night of the Liverpool SoundCity music festival.

It will be a very special hometown performance by the band, who are currently back home writing their fourth album.

Dave McCabe, frontman of The Zutons comments: "It's always a pleasure to play in Liverpool, the last two times we played here was at Anfield and the Arena. Anfield was boss 'cos we got to meet Sir Paul and Dave Grohl, and my Ma got to meet Ricky Kaiser which was hilarious! The Arena was mad 'cos it was our own gig to cap the last tour off and it felt massive, in a good way. But I think this gig will be different 'cos of the intimacy of St George’s, I think the last time we done something like this was in the Zanzibar, it’s always fun to play smaller places it will be interesting and a good one to be at."

The Zutons will be one of only three acts to play at the prestigious St George’s Hall in the past thirty years. Ringo Starr played there in January 2008 and The Wombats performed there later that same year. Before Ringo’s incredible show, St George’s Hall was last used for a gig in the 70s.

New for this year, three of the Gaymers Grassroots Gigs are hooking up with the UK’s hottest urban festivals. As well as featuring The Zutons at Liverpool Sound City, Gaymers cider will be hosting a Gaymers Grassroots Gig at The Gaymers Camden Crawl and The Great Escape Festival in Brighton.
