British Sea Power and Babyshambles To Play First Ever NME Weekender

NME announced the first ever NME Weekender - a 3 day festival of the best live music. Taking place on 5-7 November 2010 at Pontins Holiday Park, Camber Sands, Sussex this will be the party of the year for all live music fans.

The UK festival season has been blighted with unpredictable weather in recent years leaving campers wet, muddy and cold as the festival becomes more about survival than seeing the bands you love. The NME Weekender will be all about the music – three days packed to the hilt with over 30 of the best live bands and DJs around, across indoor stages, which the weather can’t spoil.

Taking the festival season into November, around 3,000 music fans will descend onto Camber Sands for an unbeatable line-up curated by NME across three stages. We can't guarantee the sun, but we can guarantee great music and no rain!

Following a performance at Reading and Leeds as the re-united Libertines, Pete Doherty will be bringing current band Babyshambles to headline the Friday night. The band are currently recording new material for their third album to be released in 2010 which could be unveiled at the NME weekender. Renowned for their charged live performances and passionate support from fans this headline slot is sure to be one of the highlights of the weekend.
Topping the bill on the Saturday night will be Brighton based quartet British Sea Power. Following on from the success of 2008’s ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ and last years film score ‘Man of Aran’ British Sea Power have just completed the recording of their fifth album. With a revered reputation for their live shows British Sea Power will blow the roof off the holiday camp.

Also on the line-up are indie synth-rockers Citidels, London buzz-band Chew Lips, The Crookes - a quartet named after a suburb home town Sheffield and Goldhawks who have just released debut single ‘Where in the World’ on 29 March. There are many more bands to be announced soon.

Krissi Murison, editor of NME said: “November is cold, miserable and six months away from the start of the next festival season. Luckily the NME Weekender is here to heat things up with an amazing weekend of live music all under one roof. With no worries about the weather this is going to be all about the party!”

Weekend tickets go on sale at 9am, Friday 2nd April 2010 priced from £95, based on a group of seven people sharing a seven-berth apartment. Tickets include two nights' accommodation and entrance to all arenas as well as free car parking. A deposit scheme is in place to allow fans to pay for their tickets in installments. After an initial deposit of £40, the balance can be settled by September 1st which means live music fans can enjoy the summer festivals and still have an amazing weekend of live music to look forward to in November.
