Stereophonics Announce Support Band Comeptition

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has announced that there will be a competition to decide which band fills the opening slot at their Cardiff City Stadium show on June 5th.

The competition is being run in partnership with Myspace, Red Dragon radio and the South Wales Echo. The winning band will play the opening slot at the concert - setting the stage for Doves, Kids in Glass Houses and Stereophonics themselves.

Wales' biggest radio station, Red Dragon, will play a track by the winning band during the week leading up to the June 5th show. The winning band will also receive coverage in Wales’ biggest daily, the South Wales Echo and MySpace will give the winning band promotion on their homepage.

In order to be considered, bands – who must be of Welsh origin (either be Welsh or living in Wales), must submit a one song video to:

“It's going to be a Welsh summer celebration, giving something back to the people of the valleys, towns and cities" says Kelly Jones.

The deadline for all entries is Wednesday May 26th and the winner will be announced on Friday May 28th.

Stereophonics play Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday June 5th.
