Radiohead Voted Greatest Glastonbury Headliner

Radiohead have been voted the ‘Greatest Glastonbury Headliner of All Time’ in a poll conducted by music video website [link]>

The gloomy rockers – famous for songs such as High and Dry, Paranoid Android and Karma Police – were voted to the top spot for their Saturday night headline performance in 1997. The now legendary set coincided with the release of the band’s acclaimed third album OK Computer, which has sold around 4.5 million copies to date and is regularly voted as one of the greatest albums of all time.

Radiohead beat off competition from some of the biggest names in music, including Sir Paul McCartney’s famous set in 2004, Jay-Z’s controversial turn in 2008 and Blur’s triumphant reunion last year.

The top ten performances as voted by Muzu users are:

1. Radiohead – 1997
2. Sir Paul McCartney – 2004
3. Blur – 2009
4. Jay-Z – 2008
5. David Bowie – 2000
6. Pulp – 1995
7. White Stripes – 2005
8. Bruce Springsteen – 2009
9. Coldplay – 2002
10. R.E.M – 1999

Graeme Slattery of Muzu said: “Glastonbury is famous for its legendary headliners and Radiohead’s 1997 performance secured their place in festival history. With a typically eclectic mix of acts confirmed for this year’s festival, ranging from Snoop Dogg to Stevie Wonder, festival fans are in for a treat.”
