KOF Is Editor For The Week
KOF - Fire It Up

Hey Hey! For those that don't know me I go by the name of KOF and I'm gonna be the guest editor for the week! I'm a rapper/ singer/ producer and all round musical genius based in liverpool. Well kind of, haha!

So I bet you're thinking what can I tell you about the music scene right now that you won't already know? Well probably not much apart from the fact that UK urban music is killing it in the charts right now. But then again, you probably already knew that too. It's almost impossible to turn on your TV or radio without hearing the likes of Tinie Tempah, Roll Deep, Dizzie, Skepta, Tinchy and a gang of others blazing it up on constant repeat. Not only is this type of exposure opening up doors for many up and coming artists, it's also making the yanks stand up and take notice of the talent we have over here. Not that we are focused on having their approval anyway but it's always good to be recognised by someone who you've looked to and been influenced by for generations. With artists such as beating American acts such as Usher to the number 1 chart position with the summer hit 'Good Times' and now they've done it again with their latest single 'Greenlight', this time battling against Eminem and Rhianna, who together are two of the biggest artists in the world right now. Successes like these are proof that UK urban music has really stepped up a few gears and we're ready to take on whoever in the battle of the beats.

Artists like Tinie Tempah, who isn't following the same obvious urban pop formula as some of his predecessors, is showing that we don't need to water down 'our' sound to be heard within the mainstream community. Along with Dizzie Rascal, they are constantly pushing the boundaries of this "Urban Box' that so many are placed in. Crossing over into the realms of Indie, Dubstep, DnB, House and Dance music the scene is becoming melting pot of crazy new sounds meshing together to form something that sounds so natural. If this is how exciting the music is now, I can't wait to see what it all sounds like 5 years from now.

I've always seen myself as one of those artists that like to push the boundaries and be on the cutting edge of what's next. With my debut album called "The Un-Expected Fulfillment", I think I'm set to do just that. At the moment I'm still putting together the final few pieces and the songs I've recorded so far is definitely something that you haven't heard anything in comparison to. Scheduled to be released in the spring of next year still gives me a bit of time to create and cultivate a sound that's second to none.

So in brief there you have it. If you didn't know before then now you do. And if you did know already, then hopefully I can put you on to something by letting you know the bangers I have been listening to on my ipod in heavy rotation!

1. Man On A Mission - Benga Feat. Katy B
2. Hold On - Rusko
3. Underground Love - Janiece Myers Feat. Wiley
4. Upside - Kano
5. Power (Remix) - Kanye West Feat. Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz

So once you've checked out these bangers and realise that I've put you on something you didn't know about, make sure you download my new single 'Fire It Up' On Itunes & Amazon NOW!!!! It features a heavy verse from Wiley and amazing vocals from Chelcee Grimes. Produced by Liverpool's own Chartstalker. You need it in your life!

Till you hear me again!
