Lowgold:  A band from the Promised Lands...
Well folks, after an eventful few years away, Lowgold are back with a newly found maturity. Along with support act ‘It Hugs Back’ they’ll be embarking on a UK tour too. Their new LP ‘Promise Lands’ precedes their next single ‘Burning Embers’ at the end of March.

Darren, their charming scamp of a singer kindly took time to answer a few questions…

AS: When you take aim with your peashooter/pellet gun/sniper rifle, you’re aiming at?
D: Pensioners.

AS: Where do you go when it all gets too much?
D: Ancient Rome.

AS: Is bedtime more half nine with a half read paper or more half four with fully red eyes?
D: Sorry, I ran out of answers half an hour before bed.

AS: What do you do in your recreational time?
D: Hang out at the local pool trying to catch verrucas and unattended kids.

AS: Who would be your dream collaborator?
D: Musical Youth.

AS: What’s the last gig/concert you went to?
D: I hate live music!
AS: Where do you most enjoy playing live?
D: Are you not listening? I told you I hate live music.
AS: So, do you enjoy playing live or are you more at home in a studio?
D: You’re making me angry now!!!
AS: I’m sure you’ve done a few but, do you know which has been your best ever gig?
D: The one where no-one died.

AS: What’s the best music video?
D: ‘Hello’ by Lionel Ritchie.

AS: If you were a musical instrument what would you be?
D: A saxamaphone!

AS: Where do you draw your inspiration from?
D: A bottomless reservoir of loathing.

D: I’m way too high right now!

AS: Who is most influential on your sound?
D: Thomas Edison!

D: By the fire exit.

D: Dad chose it.

D: Bobby Brown.

D: Genetics.

D: Lunchtime.

D: When the batteries have run down.

D: Very. It’s how Columbus found the new world.

D: The early 70’s.

D: The children.

D: Well, which one’s still breathing?

D: That it doesn’t bring eternal happiness.
