After finishing a tour with Blink 182 last year, and releasing their greatest hits record Believers Never Die in November, pop-punk giants Fall Out Boy have taken an unofficial break, while singer Patrick Stump officially announces he is going solo.
Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley took to their Twitter accounts to announce their positions in the matter. Wentz tweeted “I can’t imagine playing in FOB again”, while Hurley’s tweet revealed “Nothing is official. I have no idea what’s going to happen. That’s the most direct answer I can give.”
Although no plans or release dates for Stump’s album have been announced, his official website displays a video, in which we see him playing numerous instruments, that ends with the message “I’m working on an album. I’ll be writing/performing/producing everything myself” and the singer also told Spin.com “I’m not in Fall Out Boy right now.”
Stump is the last of the quartet to take part in a musical project other than Fall Out Boy. Wentz and Mark Hoppus of Blink 182 collaborated on a song for the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland, while Hurley and Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman are part of metal band The Damned Things. Hurley is also part of hardcore band Burning Empires.
