Hinterland Announces First 30 Confirmed Acts

The organisers of Hinterland – Glasgow’s first single ticket multi-venue art and music event – which takes place on April 30th and May 1st 2009 have announced the first 30 acts who will be performing. The festival will see over 80 bands playing in 15 venues across Glasgow over the two days.

The initial list consists of 20 Scottish bands. The organisers are keen to ensure that around 50% of the final line-up is Scottish so that local talent gets showcased at Hinterland.

Acts announced include hotly tipped Glasgow based acoustic indie group Pearl and the Puppets who supported the Sugababes earlier this year and have more recently recorded tracks with Stephen Street (Blur, The Smiths).

Also announced are Glaswegian trio Zoey Van Goey whose first two singles have been produced by Belle and Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch and Franz Ferdinand producer Paul Savage respectively.

Another Scottish act of note that has also been confirmed for Hinterland is Zane Lowe approved band Findo Gask whose singles have been likened to Hot Chip and The Associates.

Hinterland founder Mike Oman said:

“The interest in Hinterland from the industry has been phenomenal. Our committee members have been instrumental in helping us find some of the best underground talent Scotland has to offer. I’m very proud that 20 of the first 30 bands we have confirmed are Scottish. Over the coming weeks we’ll be announcing some nationally recognised acts that will make Hinterland tickets worth their weight in gold.”

Tickets for Hinterland are priced at £42 for a two day ticket and £23.50 for single day tickets. A limited number of discounted early bird two day tickets will initially be available priced £35. They are available from [link] and go on sale on December 9th.

Hinterland’s committee has also added new members as the festival draws closer. In recent weeks Q Radio, Domino Records, Lucky Me Collective, Rockfeedback, Transgressive Records, This Is Music and 50 Bones Records have all signed on to be part of Hinterland’s ever growing committee.
