Lynyrd Skynyrd Announce Live Dates

Southern rock icons LYNYRD SKYNYRD have announced a UK run for next March. Tickets go on sale today.

The resurgent seven-piece released their Roadrunner/Loud & Proud debut, ‘God & Guns’, to critical acclaim on 28th September. Backed with strong radio support and great reviews in the UK, the album’s first week sale was a colossal 997% up on the previous album’s first week figure! Lynyrd Skynyrd are definitely back with a vengeance!

‘God & Guns’ was recorded in Nashville in late 2008 and early ‘09, with the project being interrupted - but, tellingly, not ended - by the deaths of founding member/keyboardist Billy Powell and longtime bassist Ean Evans earlier this year. Yet, the band rock on and are bringing their uniquely American sound to these shores in March. Dates rack up as follows:

Thu 4th March – BIRMINGHAM LG Arena (0844 3388000)
Fri 5th March – CARDIFF International Arena (02920 224488)
Sat 6th March – LONDON HMV Hammersmith Apollo (0844 844 47 48)
Mon 8th March – MANCHESTER Apollo (0870 401 8000)
Tue 9th March – GLASGOW Clyde Auditorium (0844 395 4000)

2009 marked a key point in Lynyrd Skynyrd’s storied career. The band had a recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, their American rock anthem “Sweet Home Alabama” passed the 2 million mark in downloaded ringtones in the US and last summer, the band co-headlined one of the most successful US tours of the year with their good friend, Kid Rock. With a catalogue of over 60 albums and sales beyond 30 million, Lynyrd Skynyrd remain a musical force to be reckoned with and a beacon for the Southern Rock genre. Beyond the tragedy, the history, the classic songs, ultimately, Lynyrd Skynyrd is about an indomitable will. About survival of spirit; unbowed, uniquely American, stubbornly resolute.

Tickets priced £40 adv in London and £38.50 adv regionally (subject to a booking fee), go on sale today, Friday 13th November from box offices, all usual agents.
