Metronomy, British Sea Power and Jeffery Lewis Added To Standon Calling Line Up

The final line-up announcement from Standon Calling festival brings the jam-packed weekend line-up close to 100 acts, as we welcome METRONOMY, BRITISH SEA POWER, JEFFREY LEWIS, STEVE MASON, ALICE RUSSELL, WILD BIRDS AND PEACEDRUMS (UK exclusive), TELEPATHE, THREE TRAPPED TIGERS, SLEEPY SUN, AND SO I WATCH YOU FROM AFAR, LONE WOLF, SWIMMING, and HARRY’S GYM to the bill for what promises to be a sensational mix of musical talent.

With three stages, numerous tents, secret areas and a nightclub in a cowshed, Standon Calling has developed a reputation for supporting the best new bands and DJs. Offering a platform to emerging artists, while giving festival-goers a chance to see their favourite bands in an intimate, sponsor-free setting, this year sees many hotly tipped and critically acclaimed performers take to the stage including ORQUESTA BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB ® FEATURING OMARA PORTUONDO, EFTERKLANG, DELOREAN, , PHENOMENAL HANDCLAP BAND, PANTHA DU PRINCE and ESBEN AND THE WITCH, as well as live tour-de-force LIARS, and Spanish musician, EL GUINCHO. There is something for everyone amongst the eclectic roster, from the soaring soul of ALICE RUSSELL to the upbeat electro-pop of CASIOKIDS, to the global vibes of GILLES PETERSON, and a host of this year’s most hotly anticipated acts including FOOL’S GOLD, SUMMER CAMP, ANNA CALVI, SLEEPY SUN and SILVER COLUMNS.

Standon Calling festival has much more than an “ear for talent” however; it is a true celebration of all that is imaginative and creative in contemporary culture. Top-quality music is played out across its stages against a backdrop of sheer inventiveness and escapism.

This year’s theme, ‘Murder on the Standon Express’, will revolve around a central hub of crime – an intricate recreation of BAKER STREET, featuring winding alleys of houses and shops where you will find a host of characters brought to you by interactive theatre pioneers, The Heritage Arts Company. Delve deeper into the lair of crime and intrigue and stumble upon Sweeney Todd’s shop offering wet shaves, DR SKETCHY’S burlesque life drawing, Salena Godden’s BOOK CLUB BOUTIQUE, the Baker Street Bakery and workshops from former Masterchef winner and Wahaca founder THOMASINA MIERS. This year’s site will turn into a real-life set as artists and actors mingle with festival-goers.

As day turns to night, the on-site nightclub Camp Alcatraz (complete with 6am licence) swings into action, with legendary party-starters and Fabric residents FILTHY DUKES (KILL EM ALL) and GRECO-ROMAN SOUNDSYSTEM at the helm, ramping up the entertainment until dawn.

Those who need a late-night live music fix or fancy something a bit different will enjoy THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY. They've got music from Finnish three-piece CLEANING WOMEN, the ROTTEN HILL GANG featuring the former guitarist of the The Clash, Mick Jones, HOOK & THE TWIN, HOOLIGAN NIGHT, MANO DE DIOS and THE AMIGOS, alongside burlesque from ROXY VELVET, RYAN STYLES, LA SCARAH and THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBER.
