After a two-year hiatus, Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack has confirmed that they plan to write a new record this year.
Lissack told NME: "Kele and I started working on Bloc Party stuff…we're going to get back properly in September and sit in a rehearsal studio to work on new band material.".
With the exception of drummer Matt Tong, all Bloc Party members have been working on either solo material or other projects since the previous Bloc Party release two years ago. This news is likely to excite fans of the influential outfit, however it has been tempered with the news that the band are unlikely to play any shows until next year.
