Amy's Ghost To Play Reading And Leeds Festivals

Reading band Amys Ghost are pleased to announce they have been chosen by BBC Introducing to play both Reading and Leeds festival.

The news was announced by Radio One DJ Huw Stephens. Amys Ghost will be playing on Friday in Reading and Sunday at Leeds. Their time slot is unconfirmed as yet.

Front woman Amy Barton said 'we are all so excited and happy to be playing at Reading and Leeds festival. We've had great support from BBC Introducing so far and would like to thank Jenny Minard from BBC berks The Session for playing our tracks as well as the local press in Reading for helping get our name out there. It's a huge compliment to be asked especially since we've only been together for a year.

We're planning some busking and flyering to try and get as many people as possible along to see us perform. You can expect the performance to be our most spectacular yet."

It's not just about the music, it's about the live art, the body art, drum circles, fashion and decor. It's about starting a movement.

Amys Ghost have always done their own thing. The band is less than a year old and already they are selling out venues but it's more than that.
Whereas most bands bend over backwards to get that big break, that elusive signing and the recognition of a large label. They try and mould themselves into a nice little radio friendly package and pre-empt what these industry types might be looking for.

Amys Ghost won't allow themselves to be spoon-fed to the public by music corporations that simply intended to make a profit from the band.
This band is so DIY it hurts. They are their own Record label (First Circle Records), their own producer and engineer, they’ve turned down a distribution deal, and the services of top commercial producer, are launching their own hand designed merch and are now promoting their own live music events featuring a passionate coverage of the arts.

Their Album, Dance of Defeat due for release in July, has already caught the attention of the press and their nights are revered. Amys Ghost fans are transported to a magical party land of visuals, décor and excitement. At the sell out, Album launch party, attendees armed with complimentary goodie bags entered into a local venue to find it had been transformed. Giant jelly fish (hand made by the band) hung from the ceilings draped in twinkling lights, artists painted beautiful designs on large white boards live as the drum workshop thundered a welcome and Amy, joined by attractive troupe of girls offered tribal face and body painting. It's not just another gig with Amys Ghost and Dance of Defeat is not just another album.

'Dance of Defeat is a tale of modern-day fables exploring lovers, loneliness, two sides of a personality and so much more. It is a magical debut. From the multi instrumented Paperboat, the dreamy strains of Lullaby to the eerie Afraid, Dance of Defeat picks up it’s listener and drops them into a misty musical world that brims with wizardly enchantment and excitement.'

'Every atom of Amys Ghost divides opinions, scoring a line of taste like a hot knife through butter. On stage Amy Barton dresses in the most wonderful costumes, at times she flails like a woman possessed. It's the most brilliantly captivating, attention grabbing live performance this side of AC/DC in full stage-destruction mode.'
