Beyoncé dominated the night as the Grammys made history on Sunday. Storming in with a whopping ten nominations, Sasha Fierce herself made a new record bagging six gongs at the event.

Song of the year went to 'Single Ladies (put a ring on it)'.
Kings of Leon took home awards for best rock song, best rock performance and record of the year, while Taylor Swift won album of the year, making her the youngest artist ever to receive the honour at the tender age of twenty.

The show opened with a medley, a highly anticipated duet between the ever-eccentric Lady Gaga and seasoned eccentric Elton John. Though unfortunately only winning two of her five categories (both dance categories), Gaga was a highlight of the event, mesmerising the crowd and press with her always outrageous performances and her three outfits of the night.

Other notable performances included trapeze artist Pink, headbanging Beyoncé and a collaboration to honour Michael Jackson which included Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Usher. Prince and Paris Jackson, Michael's two eldest children made a speech on his behalf at the event.

The Black Eyed Peas performed and scooped three awards for their latest album 'The E.N.D.' A.R Rahman won best motion picture song for 'Jai Ho' from 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Other winners included Jason Mraz, Bruce Springsteen, Judas Priest, Eminem, Jay-Z, Jeff Beck, Phoenix and Zac Brown Band.
