LostProphets and Marina And The Diamonds Create Playlists For ActionAid

This year ActionAid are asking bands and festival goers alike to say Bollocks to Poverty by putting hunger back in the headlines. It’s outrageous that one billion people are hungry and politicians could end it if they put their minds to it, so the Reading crowd can help out by making hunger front page news.

The Lostprophets and Marina and The Diamonds join the rock star alumni of Kate Nash and Josh Homme amongst others who have donated their unique playlists.

Lostprophets’ keyboardist Jamie Oliver has donated his exclusive playlist of festival classics. From Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi to Warrior’s Dance by The Prodigy he’s appealing to Reading music lovers to back the campaign and get on board. He says:

"For a species that considers itself intelligent, letting billions go hungry is plain stupid! Enough of the bollocks; address the basics ¬¬- be smart and speak out against hunger!”

Marina and The Diamonds has also been so moved by the campaign that she’s given an ultimate list of festival tunes. She rates the edgy Coral Fang by The Distillers and the classic Heart -Shaped Box by Nirvana.
Furious about how many people are without food she says:

“It's unacceptable that in this country we can get food 24/7 while millions are still starving. Say BOLLOCKS TO POVERTY and let’s cut hunger in half by 2015.”

You can listen to Jamie Oliver and Marina Diamandis’s choice of tracks in the Bollocks to Poverty music shop [link], and if you want to buy tracks, ActionAid get a slice of the profits to help fund projects overseas.
ActionAid want all Reading festival goes to put themselves on the cover of their specially created magazine NMH (No More Hunger) while posing with hunger-busting headlines. They are asking people to dress up, strike a rock star pose, and say bollocks to poverty by demanding a HungerFREE world.
ActionAid are returning to Reading festival for the 9th year running with their infamous tent just outside the main arena. With comfy seating, giant games and table football by day and feel good DJs until 3am, the friendly crew will keep everyone smiling all weekend.

This year Club de Fromage are back after a rapturous reception in 2009, serving up top quality cheese on Thursday night that'll take fans back to the glory days of rock. And brand new for 2010 are the Hairbrush Heroes DJs who will be taking over Friday night, with music that’s hard not to sing along to. Then, also new for 2010, Buttoned Down Disco step up on Saturday and Sunday to see music lovers through to the very end. Expect eclectic pop, indie, punk, electro, funk and disco mashed up with absolutely no lumps.
