Say what you want about the boys from ‘Burnage’ (and people do), but why repeat what’s already been said a thousand times before. They have created more column inches than the whole of the new wave of ‘indie’ darlings put together. Everyone has there opinion on the phenomenon known as Oasis and this is mine. A f**king brilliant band and a real honour to review this record.
If you would have asked a few years ago I would have sighed for a time we all thought had passed, a time when Oasis created contemporary masterpieces. With the release of ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ on 30th May 2005 their renaissance amongst music lovers has begun.
Let Their Be Love is the third release from an album that is without doubt a classic, the best since ‘What’s The Story’ ten years previously. Right then, enough of the arse licking, you want to know about the song.
Simple really, it’s a classic Noel song, a flag waver, an anthem and the closest thing to Champagne Supernova in their catalogue. I don’t mean in the way it sounds but in the way it makes you feel. Buy it, listen to it a few times and feel it seep into your bones. Oasis say: ‘Let Their Be Love’ and I for one am right behind them on that one. Oasis, are more ‘made for it’ than ‘mad for it’ nowadays yet their energy and significance remains. Hopefully, time will bring Liam and Noel closer, in comparison, to Mick and Keith, than John and Paul. Oh, and for the record I’m more rolling stone than fab four.
