The first single from the Italian gothic metallers’ new record “Karmacode” is a very catchy slice of gothic metal that features a nice off beat verse riff which builds into the kind of soaring melodic chorus that has become LC’s trademark.
The Arabic vocals patterns that co-vocalists Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro favour draws the listener into a state of ecstasy while a pounding rhythmic back beat drives the track into your consciousness.
Sure the guitars take kind of a back seat on this track but the ethereal samples and fantastic chorus of “we’re raising our truth” is imbedded into your brain from the first listen.
It should also put to rest lazy comparisons to acts like Within Temptation and Evanescence who’s couldn’t write a metal riff between them and who’s faux operatic drama is miles away from the tight melodic rock the ‘Coil turn their hands to.
