The Wombats impress me a lot with the common swear words that a crowd can shout out and “woo-oo’s” any music lover can enjoy. They sing a full on new-indie pleasing track, a definite hit with fans of The Automatic’s ‘Monster’ and Arctic Monkeys ‘I bet you look good on the dance floor’.
This new band are emerging singing about nights out on the towns, police vans, girls and normal life that people can connect with - a bit like Peter Kaye’s comedy technique- except you won’t be laughing at the Wombats, you’ll be too busy singing along.
The drum and bass at the start of the Liverpool love-song entitled ‘Little Miss Pipedream’ are accompanied with drunken sounding vocals from Matthew "Murph" Murphy . This song is a peaceful track to end the single, with harmonies fans can hum to and at the end of this 4-minute track listeners can let out a big sigh and thank themselves for pressing play.
Maybe they won’t be as big as The Beatles, but this band are a great achievement that Liverpool can be proud of. Possibly the best sound that’s come out of the ‘pool for a long time. For more information you can visit: http://www.thewombats.co.uk
