KOF
KOF - The KOF EP
Released: 22nd May 2009
Label: URBEATZ

A rather sparse intro teases listeners into what becomes a wide berth of imagination and style in this debut album from KOF.

The only real issue with KOF is that it is called “The KOF EP.” Usually when a CD comes loaded to the brim with 11 tracks I tend to think this is an Album?

There is an easy flow to his lyrics and vocal style. “Summer Love” is a decent track that sees KOF get as about as close to Pop music as he’s going to. Having a strong accessibility to the material will be key for future developments.

There is enough material here to support the idea that KOF is well trained and learned in the arts he is practising in. He knows his way around each loop used like the back of his hand and whilst he can, even to a mocking effect, emulate this sound very well he also clearly has more to say on the matter beyond being just a capable artist.

The album as a whole manages to infuse traits from the RnB, dance and pop worlds into a whole. There has been a wide spread of production staff taken onto this labour as well reflecting a strong interest in this new voice in today’s music scene.
