Madness
Madness - The Liberty Of Norton Folgate
Released: 17th May 2009
Label: Lucky Seven

Amazing that after all these years Madness manages to retain just about every known aspect of their work to date.

And this is no minor return either. 15 whole tracks of sheer Madness! Although it starts anonymously enough with a brass band opening, “We are London” soon takes over with Suggs singing from street to street in the only way he knows best. It is Madness simplicity at its best: Catchy, memorable and just easy to enjoy.
“Forever Young” brings in the reggae bounce in another of the albums highlights. “On the Town” brings in a guest vocalist to juxtapose Suggs ramblings in another highlight. The material on this album could fit seamlessly in with their original material. Thoroughly enjoyable and destined to be taken in with loving arms from their fan base.

The sax and the Piano have been two key Madness instruments, both players put in sterling work throughout the entire album. The last couple of tracks do play around with something new however with a 20’s jazz feel in “Clerkenwell Polka.” This Just adds to Madness’ charm for invention.
