After a boot of wine I was calling the bands Halo… I love you, Soft Cell Emergency and Big Boots. When infact their real names were Hallo..I Love You, Soft Toy Emergency and Little Boots.
Once again my talent for being late led me to catch only the end of Hallo…I Love You, although from this alone the band look set to be higher up the bill next time, as they were an electronic delight. I don’t know if this is just me clasping at straws but "Hello, I Love You" is the name of a song by The Doors . So are they Jim Morrison fans by any chance? I don’t know but regardless they are sure to have picked up more fans for themselves after Friday’s gig.
Next up was Soft Toy Emergency, by this point the bands were running a little later than expected but nonetheless were worth the wait. Soft Toy Emergency are a vibrant and exciting upcoming band from Liverpool, who are sure to be ones to watch out for in the future.
Next was headliner Little Boots who opened with her latest single ‘New In Town’. By this point the venue was packed out so there wasn’t a great view and I was only able to catch the odd glimpse of Victoria Hesketh's beautiful golden hair shimmering under the stage lights. Although Academy 2 had amazing sound quality that night for all the bands, so good infact it was as clear as listening to a cd. It is easy to see why Little Boots has been awarded numerous accolades such as of the BBC 'Sound of 2009′ poll, she certainly lives up to the hype.
