Hazy folk and pop merging with a journey instrumental kick, topped off by hollow percussive booms, ‘Blackbird and the Fox’. It represents the continuing resurgence of the evergreen The Twilight Singers, as they seek to harness the momentum gained from their recent Glastonbury performance. Greg Dulli’s yearning vocal pull is cushioned neatly by some sparse, soulful femme backing, to provide for some contrast.

The personal, poetic lyrics dissects the power of love and the heartache it can bring, but they do not dominate the track. Dulli stammers his vocals to bring the emotive straining to the fore and, it matches the rising profile of the foraging instrumentals. The Twilight Singers, with this delving single, underlines their timeless nature.
