What does BBC stand for? No, it's not British Broadcasting Corporation this time, it's Baker, Bruce, Clapton and collectively they made up blues rock'n'pop band Cream back in the late sixties. As Cream, the trio lasted a little over two years together but their music has influenced hundreds of bands in their legacy and they are considered to be one of the forerunners of stadium rock.
Demand for tickets to see Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton perform their first gigs together for 37 years was understandably huge and each of the four nights at the Royal Albert Hall was filled with scenesters from the original era and youngsters keen to hear a legendary band perform live.
This two disc release contains nineteen of the best songs from those reunion gigs and includes the timeless 'Badge', 'Sunshine Of Your Love' and 'Crossroads'. The formula is well-practised - a blues riff, some bass and drums and a massive Clapton guitar solo. You really need to sit back and imagine yourself at one of these gigs in order to appreciate what you're listening to, any other attitude and the CD will seem repetitive and even a little dull.
This CD is a must for any Clapton fan and any Cream fans still alive should add this to their collections, as well as the DVD that's also available.
