Is pop eating itself? Oasis constantly regurgitating Beatles song and becoming less and less good at it, X Factor contestants singing cover versions of Pop Idol winners, and now The Paddingtons, who have decided that they are The Clash.
Although not lacking any of the visceral swagger and self confidence of The Clash they are maybe not as lyrically challenging, however, saying that, this song is one you can really shout along to. This is full to the brim with guitars, strut and bluster. "I'm Sorry" says all it has to say within the first few bars but says it so convincingly and simply it's well worth repeating for the next three minutes.
In answer to the question "is pop eating itself?" well as long as great tunes like this keep coming around I don't care. Just as long as, in the next few years, I don't hear anybody trying to be Queen..oh shit...I forgot about The Darkness..we're all doomed!!!
