The press pack included with this demo states that Taio Cruz was meant to record 'Umbrella' until Jay-Z heard it and offered it to Rihanna. Whilst it is not clear what that song would have sounded like had Cruz recorded it, but it is a good job that Cruz did not release it as 'Come On Girl' is a more up-tempo number that will appeal to indie-disco and RnB fans alike.
Whilst a more remixed, pumped-up version may be needed to particularly take the clubs by storm, the single version does enough to get people dancing with its build up of synth in the bridge and catchy hooks in the chorus as well as the funky beat throughout.
