Snowfight in the City Centre - Six Seconds
Released: 5th March 2007
Label: Something In Construction

Music scene fact: there’s always one good band that comes out of Manchester. Could indie-pop group, Snowfight in the City Centre be that one good band? With debut single ‘Six Seconds’, they could well be one of its sparkling stars.

The band, Snowfight in the City Centre are more like a collective. Taken from their official MySpace page: Adam Jennings on vocals, Andy Jennings on Drums, Lewis O'Brien on Bass, James Cook on Electric guitar, shaker and 80s synth, Matt Cocksedge on Electric guitar and ethereal soundscapes and Rick Boardman on Piano, harmonies and tom-tom; this six-man band has a heck of lot going on in their music and you’ll quickly find that the more you listen, the more you love.

So far, I have them sounding very Killers-esqe, ‘Six Seconds’ is atypically indie-rock, as the single itself will be a download-only release, which also includes the B-side "What Did You Expect?". I have to the say that it’s the B-side that you really get the idea of the band’s potential. ‘What Did You Expect?’ is very Doves, and being one of my favourite bands of all-time, that’s a thumb’s up.

Touring with newcomers Ghosts, Snowfight in the City Centre will soon be at the mercy of the ‘over-hyped syndrome’ by eager beaver NME crowd. So remember fans, you heard them here first!
