Performance - Red Brick Heart
Released: 3rd October 2010
Label: Too Much Information

Performance aren’t like most other bands. Through experiencing label turbulence and the lead singer becoming a published novelist they’ve got a fair bit of depth to them. With ‘Red Brick Heart,’ Performance have tried to capture the essence of pure British pop.

With production from Chris Jones (responsible for Zero 7, The Golden Virgins etc.) the record looks decent on paper. The first track, a capturing vocal track, puts you in the place. Followed by equally catchy ‘Miracles’.

The record has a quant charm, it’s enjoyable and decent to listen to, to some it may seem a bit dull, to others, a perfect capture of British music.

A personal favourite is emotional balled ‘Reptile.’ It is once again, a likeable track with an appealable message that most of us blokes can relate to.

Synths man, Joe Cross also lent his hand to the new Hurts record, which is magnificent.

Performance are set to support Hurts on some of their UK tour dates this October. A slot with a band hotly tipped as the return of true pop, Performance are set for good things.

Though they are a band down to personal preference, Performance could be central in the driving force of a new age of pop.
