Vinyl Collide are a five-piece band from the East Midlands who for the last five years have been creating a sound combining the raw dirty melodies of The Rolling Stones and The Strokes with the upbeat vibes of The Coral.
With their busy gigging schedule, including a supporting gig on Razorlight's UK tour, this five piece from the East Midlands have now found the time to release this, their second confidently performed, high octane EP, and this recently released collection of tracks could be the key to the bands success.
The opening title track of the cd kicks in with its simple rhythmic structure and unfussy production effectively enough to tempt you towards the latter parts of the cd, and perfectly introduces the raw energy of the band, while ‘You Versus Me’ is without the doubt the stand out track of the three. Its dirty vocals performed alongside over-driven guitar and subdued lead guitar riffs, this bitter sweet upbeat song of obsession can justly be described as a first-rate effortless rock and roll song from the old school.
The final track of the EP provides a diversion from the earlier two pieces, and instantly blasts off with a funky blues intro leading into a reggae rock guitar led sound that Suggs and co would be proud of, while still maintaining the emotive feel that the cd provides throughout, with a vocal sound reminiscent of The Strokes.
This EP does a good job of showcasing the bands instantly likeable, bright style and it will appeal to fans of the Coral, The Strokes, The Who and the Stones, and anyone else who enjoys good old-fashioned rock and roll tunes that they can sing along to.
