Seven Story Down offer what I would call 'Top Gun music' - that 80's throwback with a modern day edge comprising pop hooks and an indie rock texture. "These guys are really good" the sound man said, three songs into their set, just as the four piece waded into a cover of Robbie Williams' 'Angels', as well as a few bars from Eminem's 'Lose It' which seemed to detract from their set. "You were saying?" I replied, the look of disappointment on his face quite evident. But more rock hooks and impressive vocals later and Seven Story Down had just about recovered. Lose the covers and this band could go places.
Radiohead are a massive band. That's massive in terms of record sales, fans, albums produced, marketing, reputation etc etc. Revere sound like Radiohead and they themselves are massive. Sure, they don't have the record label budget behind them to produce record sales, but there are eight of them in the band (yes, eight) and the sound they make is so rich and so flavoured that it too is massive.
Armed with a trumpeteer, a cellist, keys, drums, bass/vocals, violin, lead guitar and acoustic/vocals, Revere are harmonising one second, rocking out the next, hitting high notes, adding in jazz trumpet background whilst all doing different things on stage which makes for entertaining viewing. Impressive in all areas, Revere are one of the most intriguing bands on the circuit.
