The sensible one from the Libertines is also the more talented of the two it would seem.
“Deadwood” is the second single from the Dirty Pretty Things’ debut album “Waterloo To Anywhere” and is a bit more of a rollicking ragamuffin grotnrollerathon which sounds like it has finally found the balls to break away from the memory of singer Carl Barat’s previous musical incarnation which seems to be constantly kicking at his heels. The DPTs are testament to the belief that it’s not where you're from, it’s where you’re at. The Barat signature songwriting blueprint is still there but this time the amps are turned up, the guitars are in tune and they’ve come up with some decent tunes. This one might be about his old bandmate, or it might not, but who cares when it looks likely to cause dancefloor mayhem at your local indie dance emporium.
