Nu Metal band Papa Roach are coming back with a fourth studio album, The Paramour Sessions, on September 11th. The song “To Be loved” is being lifted from this album, on 18th September, to be used as the “come back” single.
So after an absence of two years the Roach come back with the same old thing. Loud, brash guitars, screaming, angst ridden vocals and deep, pounding drum and bass. Which I guess is all the NU Metal kids want. I mean it is a tune that will have the “alternative” club dance floors full with sweaty kids in black, throwing themselves into each other trying their best to knock each other out…which is a good thing right?! It’s catchy, it’s ferocious, it’s, well classic Nu Metal really.
However although the tune does have melody and I guess there is a certain kind of attitude entwined in it, there is a stench of a tried and tested formula that seems cock sure of a high placing in the charts. This I feel may deter the more discerning Nu Metal fans, but as one of the lines from the chorus goes, “I’ll never give in, I’ll never give up” and they are right. They just won’t!
